Australian Shepherds are known to have been bred since the early 1900’s. They were originally used as guard dogs for sheep farms. However, they became popular among hunters and farmers during World War II because of their ability to track down enemy soldiers with great precision. Since then, these dogs have become very popular all over the world due to their adaptability and loyalty.
The most common breed name for Australian Shepherds is “Shepherd”. There are many different types of shepherds, but they all share certain characteristics. These include being medium sized dogs, having long legs and short bodies, a round head with a flat face and ears that point forward, dark brown or black coats that vary from light colored to almost white in coloration (depending on the breed), and having an alert temperament.
There are two main varieties of Australian Shepherds: Border Collies and Labradors. Both of them are excellent working dogs. Their loyalty and obedience make them ideal guards.

Siberian Huskies were bred to pull sleds in freezing cold temperatures. They are working dogs with thick coats of fur, webbed feet for moving quickly over snow, and a friendly disposition toward humans. They are very popular as pets because they get along well with children and other animals.
Silky Terriers are a small breed of dog that is known for its luxurious hair that feels like silk! In the 1800s, these dogs were regularly shaved and used as pillows for sick people to sleep on!

Canaan Dogs are a rare breed of dog that is related to the Fox and the Jackal. They are independent minded but affectionate toward owners they know well. They were bred to chase farm pests, guard property, and hunt vermin.
