Best Dog Food For Chihuahua: Tips And Reviews To Help You Choose

The first thing to consider when choosing the right dog food for your chihuahua is what kind of diet they are going to have. There are two types of diets: dry and wet. Dry means no ingredients such as milk or eggs. Wet means there may be some ingredients like chicken, fish, egg yolk etc. but it does not mean that they contain any fat.

Dry Diet For Dogs: Dry diets are suitable for dogs with normal digestive systems. They do not require special feeding instructions, because their bodies will automatically digest them without problems. Dry dog foods are easy to prepare and very economical too since they do not need refrigeration.

Water is the only ingredient needed in dry diets and must be replaced every few days, depending on how much water your pet drinks. If your dog drinks less than half its body weight in one day, then it needs extra water. If your dog drinks more than half its body weight in one day, then it needs to drink less water.

If you feed a dry diet for your chihuahua, make sure that the food contains all the essential nutrients and vitamins. Make sure that it does not contain too much salt or sugar.

Wet Dog Food: Wet dog foods are great for dogs with special dietary needs such as chihuahuas that have sensitive stomachs, kidney or liver problems, dental issues etc. They can also be fed alone or as a topper on their dry food for added nutrition.

Wet dog foods are made from animal by-products, vegetables, fruits and meat. They can be combined with other dry or moist foods. They should not be confused with canned dog foods, which contain much higher amounts of sugar and salt than what is recommended for chihuahua.

Wet foods are usually prepared immediately before or after you feed your dog. It is better to avoid feeding your dog leftovers, as this can cause digestive issues.

It is necessary to keep wet dog food refrigerated and to change the water every day.
