Feeding a Beagle Puppy – What’s Best For Your New Best Friend?
The first thing to remember when feeding your new puppy is to give him the right amount of food. If you are giving him too little, he will not grow up healthy. Too much and he won’t get enough nutrients from it and will become obese or even die before reaching adulthood.
When you buy a puppy, you need to make sure that he gets enough nutrition. You don’t want to overfeed him because then he might develop health problems later on. Also, if you overfeed him too much, it could cause digestive issues which may lead to death.
So what is the correct amount of food for a puppy?
Well let us take an example: A 6 month old puppy weighs 10 pounds and needs 100 grams of protein per day (1/3rd cup). That means that you need to feed him 1/3rd cup of meat every single day. Now, let us say that you have a friend who feeds her dog 2 cups of chicken every day.
Would she still be able to feed her puppy chicken?
So, what would happen if you gave your puppy 1/2 cup of chicken everyday instead?
He wouldn’t get enough protein and would probably get sick very easily. So the next thing that our irresponsible friend could do is give him more food. What probably wouldn’t happen, is that her puppy starts growing at a normal rate. He would grow up to be a very large dog for his age and this is not a good thing.
Puppies can grow extremely fast and if fed the wrong amount of food they can become obese very quickly. Just imagine an obese human child, 6 year old weighing 200 pounds! It is not healthy and this is exactly what happens to puppies that are overfed. They usually develop many health problems such as heart diseases which can lead to death. In fact, overfeeding your puppy can be just as dangerous as not feeding him enough!
So, as you can see, it is very important that you get your puppy (and dog) the right amount of food. It is also very important that you do not give your dog people food because this can make them sick and if you overfeed them they will definitely get sick. These are some of the most commonly overfed foods:
Onions (even though it is a vegetable)
Grapes and Raisins
People Food in General
Too Much Food = Death for Your Dog…and You!
Why are we saying this?
Because if you overfeed your dog, it will get sick and in some cases even die.
Why is this?
Well if you give your dog too much food it can’t digest all of it and the rest will just rot inside of him. This can cause bloat which is extremely painful and even deadly in extreme cases. If you give him too much, he will start vomiting and have diarrhea. This isn’t good for his health and it isn’t good for yours if you have to clean up after him!
How to Stop Your Dog from Eating Everything It Sees
What can you do if you have a chewer?
You could get rid of everything that could possibly be harmful. This would mean all the items listed above and probably a few more. You could also go with a different route and buy a lot of chew toys and special treats to try and keep them entertained.
