Lhasa Apso Vs Shih Tzu – Can You Spot The Difference

Lhasa Apso Vs Shih Tzu Appearance: What’s The Difference?

The most obvious difference between a lhasa apso and a shih tzu is their coat color. They are all black with white markings on them. However, there are other differences which may not be immediately apparent at first glance.

Shiba Inu (or any purebred dog) have short fur coats whereas lhasa apso dogs tend to have longer hair coats. Some breeds such as the Siberian Husky have long hair coats while others like the Alaskan Malamute have shorter hair coats.

A lhasa apso dog tends to be smaller than a shiba inu and they are usually lighter colored. There are some exceptions though, such as the Himalayan Mountain Dog which is larger than its relative, the Japanese Chin.

In general, lhasa apso dogs tend to be less energetic than their shiba counterparts. Some breeds such as the Akita and the German Shepherd have higher energy levels than other breeds such as the Labrador Retriever.
