The American Eskimo Pomeranian Mix (or simply “pom” or “pommie”) is a breed of dog with a long history in the United States. These dogs are usually described as being short, stocky, medium-sized and white. They have been bred since the late 19th century to produce working sled dogs.

These dogs were originally bred to work in the Arctic regions where they had to endure harsh conditions such as -25°C (-4°F) temperatures, ice storms, snowstorms and even blizzards.

It was not until the 1950’s when these dogs started appearing in show ring. Since then they have become popular pets around the world. Some of them are known for their intelligence and loyalty while others are known for their love of agility courses and obedience training.

There are various types of pomos, but most of them share certain characteristics:

They tend to be very intelligent and loyal. They are also known for their love of agility courses and obedience training. Their coat tends to be thick and curly. They tend to have a large head size, which makes it difficult for them to fit into small spaces.

However, they do make good guard dogs due to their large size and strength.

The average size:

Most poms tend to grow to be around 10-12 inches and weigh up to about 16 pounds.

Temperament:

The temperament of these dogs tends to vary from dog to dog, some can be friendly while others are a little more reserved. In general though they tend to be alert, energetic and they love being the center of attention. They get along well with children and other animals if they are socialized when they are puppies.

Grooming:

These dogs need to be brushed on a weekly basis to make sure their fur does not tangle or mat. They tend to shed a lot, especially at the beginning of the grooming season (Spring) and less as the season goes on. If you live in a hotter climate you will need to bath your dog more frequently since the extra sweat will make their fur stink very quickly.

These dogs are prone to getting a condition called “Black Skin Disease” which is caused by Melanin. This disease affects the black areas of the fur and turns it brown or in some cases dark gray. It does not hurt the dog and can be treated with certain medicines.

These dogs are prone to getting allergies, it is important to check them for ticks, fleas, and other types of parasites. If they catch a case of fleas it is very important to give them a flea bath and consult your vet on the best way to prevent future cases of fleas.

Do you want a happy, healthy dog? Or do you want a cheap one from Walmart?

It’s up to you.
