History of Samoyed Dogs:

The history of the Samoyed Dog breed is very old and they have been around for more than 2000 years. There are a few different stories about how these dogs came into existence. One story says that they were originally from the Siberian area in northern Russia. The people of this area had a few friendly tribes and one unfriendly tribe that always attacked them.

They needed a dog to protect themselves and their livestock. One day, one of the friendly tribes saw a ferocious white dog that was attacking a bear. They captured the dog and bred it with other dogs to create strong, fearless dogs that could protect themselves from any animal or enemy. The other story says that these dogs were brought into this area by the Vikings hundreds of years ago. They needed a friendly, hard-working dog that could help them hunt, pull their sleds and protect their homes. The Samoyed dog has characteristics of both of these stories. However, it is certain that these dogs were in the area for a long time and the nomadic people who lived there always used them as faithful helpers.

The first Samoyeds came to North America in the late 1800s when sailors brought two of them to New York from England.
