Blue Shih Tzu Colors:
The Blue Shih Tzu is one of the most popular colors among dog owners. They are very friendly dogs with a gentle nature. Their eyes are usually a deep blue and they have a long flowing tail. Their bodies are medium size, but their heads tend to be large due to their short legs.
They are not aggressive or territorial. They are affectionate and loving towards everyone around them.
Shih Tzu Color Changes Before And After:
During the breeding season, the shih tzu’s coat will change from its natural dark blue color to a lighter shade of blue. This is because during this time when mating takes place, there is a higher concentration of testosterone in the female than in males. This causes the male to produce a larger amount of testosterone. When this happens, the female shih tzu’s body produces less estrogen and her body temperature rises causing her fur to become lighter in color.
Her coat will eventually return back to its original color.
It is believed that the reason why some shih tzu lose their blue coloring is due to certain chemicals used in dyeing their coats. It is not known why some dogs lose their color, however the general consensus is that it is due to a bad reaction with the chemicals used.
Shih Tzu Nose Changes:
The shih tzu nose may discolor if the dog suffers from respiratory issues, however, this is usually temporary. Shih Tzus are prone to a condition known as “cherry eye”, where the tear gland protrudes causing a red lump to form. This can be corrected by a veterinarian.
Shih Tzu Tongue Color:
The tongue of a shih tzu will settle on the floor of the mouth only if the dog is tired or ill. If your dog’s tongue hangs out of his mouth, make sure you schedule an appointment with your veterinarian immediately.
Shih Tzu Temperament:
The shih tzu is an extremely friendly, loving, affectionate, and playful dog. Shih Tzus are patient with children making them excellent family dogs. They enjoy the attention they receive from their families and will demand it whenever they can. A bored Shih Tzu is a destructive Shih Tzu.
Shih TZU Colors – Which Of These Is Your Favorite?
Every dog breeder dreams of creating a new breed of dog that will capture the imagination of the public. Some have come close, but none have had the impact of the diminutive toy dog that is the Shih Tzu. Also known as the Chrysanthemum dog or the lazy lion, this distinctive dog with its long flowing hair and cute facial hair is one of the most popular breeds in the world today.
But what do you think of the Shih Tzu coloring?
White Shih Tzus
The name Shih Tzu is a Chinese phrase that means “lion”. The long flowing and often white hair around the face resembles a lion’s mane. The long hair also covers the eyes of the dog which gives them the appearance of always being sleepy or even lazy. At one time, all Shih Tzus were only white.
